MGF - MGF Drivers door lock cannot be unlocked

MGF - MGF Drivers door lock cannot be unlocked - M322

The battery was dead but left in situ for about six weeks before being replaced with new fully charged battery.

On the first occassion the key or fob and button would open both doors now neither the fob or key or button will open the drivers door, passenger door is OK.

All other electrical parts work.

I believe the lock itself is broken but I am unable to get at it because the door is closed.

Any suggestions please.
